Dear everyone,
I usually try to write something around the New Year. Since that didn’t work out at all this year, let me at least take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year!
What happened last year?
A lot of things…
It all started when I decided to volunteer at the vaccination center, at least part-time. It was an unforgettable experience—I learned a lot, went through a lot, and did something meaningful. I’m still very proud of that!
We also received a significant number of new contracts. My partners and I carried out three tenders for on-demand transportation services in 2021 alone, one of which was in Switzerland. All modes of transport varied greatly in nature and scope; I also wrote a professional article based on these experiences. I was very pleased with these projects, as I now consider on-demand transport to be one of my core areas of focus and am also a bit proud to have built up what is surely unique expertise in this field.
In addition, we were approached by a large number of companies that decided to have us assist them in entering the public transportation market or expanding their presence there. The spectrum ranges from small startups that have introduced incredibly interesting innovations to large corporations whose new technologies we will now be bringing to market. We are currently supporting transportation companies in the development of new IT concepts and are already looking forward to the results, which will certainly bring some innovations for the entire public transit industry.
What does all this mean for 2022?
Many of the projects mentioned are still ongoing. This year, too, contracts for on-demand transport services are already being awarded. These projects benefit from the vast experience we have gained. Due to the tremendous technological advancements in 2022, several innovative software systems will be launched on the market, which we will all (hopefully) be able to marvel at together at Innotrans. The topic of passenger information will certainly be revitalized with the National Mobility Data Access Point. This will offer unprecedented possibilities for anonymous data use. On-demand transport will definitely move beyond the experimental stage thanks to improved legal regulations, and we will have to consider how to deal with private-sector competitors who are aiming directly for the next step toward autonomous vehicles.
